Quenched and Tempered (Q&T) Alloy Steel Plate
Quenched and tempered (Q&T) alloy steel plates are manufactured to provide an optimal combination of hardness and strength, essential qualities for applications where strong impacts and significant wear are expected.
The Q&T process involves a rigorous heat treatment: first, the steel is heated to an extremely high temperature and rapidly cooled in water, a process known as quenching. It is then reheated to a lower temperature and allowed to air cool, which is known as tempering. This controlled heating and cooling cycle significantly improves the material’s hardness and strength.
BMG offers a variety of Q&T steel plate grades designed to meet the needs of manufacturers and construction companies that require highly durable materials for non-structural products such as dump bodies, buckets for construction equipment, transport equipment, lifting equipment, and more.
Although some ASTM specifications detail the chemical composition of certain Q&T steel grades, many others are certified primarily based on their yield strength and tensile strength requirements.
