High-Strength Low-Alloy Structural Carbon Steel (HSLA)

BMG offers a wide range of steel plate, including carbon steel (also known as mild steel) and High-Strength Low-Alloy (HSLA) steel.

HSLA structural steels are produced specifically to achieve particular mechanical attributes, such as hardness, strength, corrosion protection, and durability against harsh environmental conditions. This makes them ideal for structural construction projects, including the fabrication of truck frames, supports, crane booms, rail cars, and similar applications.

Although certified HSLA steels have defined chemical compositions, in practice engineers tend to select material based on the steel’s mechanical properties rather than its chemical composition when planning a project.

HSLA stands out for its superior strength, reduced weight, and excellent formability—characteristics that outperform those of traditional mild carbon steel.
