Aluminum Plate and Sheet 6061-O

Aluminum 6061-O is an aluminum alloy with an excellent combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The “O” temper (annealed) indicates the material has been heat treated to its softest and most flexible condition, making it suitable for easy forming, machining, or welding. It is used in a wide range of applications requiring high ductility and good corrosion resistance.

  • Composition: Aluminum alloy containing magnesium and silicon as the main alloying elements, providing excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and balanced mechanical properties.
  • Properties: High corrosion resistance, especially in industrial, marine, and salt-water environments. The annealed (O) temper provides excellent formability, making processing easier.
  • Heat treatment: The O temper is an annealed condition, meaning it has been stress-relief treated to maximize ductility and formability, making it easier to work in this condition.
  • Applications: Ideal for forming processes such as extrusion, stamping, punching, and machining, especially for parts that do not require high mechanical strength.
  • High formability: The annealed O temper allows the material to be easily formed, bent, and processed without compromising properties.
  • Good corrosion resistance: Excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion, salt water, and other humid environments.
  • Ease of welding: Thanks to excellent weldability, it is a popular option for welded components.
  • Good machinability: High ductility and softness facilitate machining and fabrication of a variety of industrial components.
  • Lightweight: Reduces total product weight without sacrificing durability.
  • Aerospace industry:

Applications: Structural components for aircraft requiring a lightweight, easy-to-process material but not high mechanical strength under extreme conditions.

  • Automotive industry:

Applications: Body parts and components requiring high formability, such as panels and other structural components where weight and corrosion resistance are key factors.

  • Construction industry:

Applications: Structures, cladding panels, doors, window frames, and other architectural components exposed to varied environmental conditions.

  • Transportation industry:

Applications: Vehicle and truck components, especially where ease of processing and corrosion resistance are required without high mechanical strength.

  • Manufacturing industry:

Applications: Machinery, equipment, and components not subject to heavy loads but requiring excellent formability and corrosion resistance.
