A588 STEEL PLATE

A588 steel is a High-Strength Low-Alloy (HSLA) structural steel specifically designed to offer high resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Also known as “weathering steel” or “Corten,” A588 is primarily used in structural applications exposed to the environment where weather resistance is critical. It is commonly available in Grades A and B.

A588 steel is characterized by excellent weathering resistance due to the formation of a protective patina on its surface, which helps slow the progression of corrosion. It also offers high mechanical strength, good weldability, and good formability, making it an ideal option for durable, low-maintenance outdoor structures.
